I wish you knew a little about officiating..every game, same posts..
from the same people.
To get to the point that you are an upper level Div I official you have gone through years of HS officiating. Then you go to numerous summer camps put on by the top officials so that you get your name and face in front of them. Every summer you can expect to spend $3-5000 dollars attending camps. If you can have an actual job, there goes every vacation day you have. make it through the camp circuit and then you get to do lower level college ball games(ODAC, NAIA, Div II, etc) with pay of $150-200 per game and you provide travel. Travel 3 hours or more for this type game..have to be there 2 hours prior to game time to have a pregame meeting of the officials. You cannot have a job and do this. Then you get some Div I games and the pay goes up, but you are still responsible for transportation and you CANNOT miss a game due to weather!! Plus you still have to go to the camps every summer! You are graded after every game by a commissioner of officials(even the top officials are graded after every game). Ayers can be in Miami one day and need to be in Pittsburg the next...he is responsible for his travel and he has to get there! Then you listen to idiots that have no idea of the rules and are only watching for one team.
